Lodging

The beautiful lodge and cabins built of hand made brick and other local materials accommodate up to 26 people. All buildings are equipped with solar powered electricity, part of our commitment to helping you reduce your carbon footprint during your visit to Nicaragua.

Located on top of a mountain with the “impossibly beautiful view”, are three double rooms with private baths. Colibri rooms have two single beds or one king (please specify which you desire when making your reservation), rocking chairs for relaxing on the porch, and bright mauve bougainvilleas and other tropical flowers adorning the yard.

Tucan and Loro cabins each sleep 6 in comfortable bunk beds with thick mattresses, flannel sheets for added coziness and warm blankets. Tucan and Loro have full bathrooms.

The Mariposa Cabin is located a pleasant 5 minute walk from the lodge near the butterfly conservatory on the Blue Trail. This cabin has two small rooms with two bunk beds in each, a large room in which to spread out, two half baths and an outdoor shower. Orchids hang from every possible tree branch in the surrounding area.

A new hot shower house located behind the lodge is available to all FEV guests. FEV is rich in wood from periodic pruning of the forest canopy to create optimum conditions for coffee cultivation. This wood is used to heat water through a thermo siphon system.

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, David Zucchino, writes about his trip to FEV in the UU World, Fall, 2011.

Carved out of the mountain 4,000 feet up, the setting offers spectacular views of the Dariense mountain range and the green valley far below.
